Costa Vavagiakis posed here for our Early Morning Painting Group. He was one of those who painted with us every morning. I added the background elements later in my studio. Costa is now a fantastic and powerful realist painter and a most sought after instructor at the Art Students League, the National Academy of Design and other schools around New York. His work has been included in important museum and gallery shows. This is the painting that actually started me on my illustration career when an art director saw it in 1979 at a Society of Illustrators Annual Exhibition.
